From the ever-popular games
of golf and tennis to the more obscure pursuits of squash and badminton,
landlubbers can remain active each and every day. On the water, there are
even more options, from scuba diving and snorkeling Bermuda's infamous
reefs - to fishing, sailing and waterskiing. The more adventurous vacationers
can even try their hand at parasailing. Golf tournaments take place all
year long, culminating in the much-publicized Bermuda Open at the Port
Royal Golf Club in early October. The tournament is open to both amateurs
and professionals who compete for this sought after prize. But there is
another sport too for the less athletically inclined. |

| It's called "Shopping" and
in Bermuda it's an adventure! From Hamilton’s department stores to St.
George’s boutiques and the upscale shops at the Royal Naval Dockyard, you’ll
find great buys on a whole variety of merchandise, including local arts
and crafts and brand-name imports. Hamilton, the capital of Bermuda, is
the quintessential, charming, picture-perfect, meticulously manicured town
that visitors love to photograph in abundance. Even "the birdcage" perch
of the traffic director at a downtown intersection warrants half a roll. |

St George has many excellent
pubs, restaurants and shops. Local specialities include Bermuda lobster,
and shark and fish chowder laced with sherry, peppers and rum. International
fare tops the bill at many restaurants, whose chefs hail from a who's-who
of world capitals. Don’t fail to sample a few of Bermuda’s most famous
dishes as well. "Dark 'n' stormies" are the national drink, a mixture of
ginger beer and Gosling's Black Seal Rum. If you visit during one of the
festivals, you can see the famous Goombay dancers in their fine costumes. |
