Zambia
alled ‘The Smoke that Thunders’ by the local people, Zambia’s best known attraction is Victoria Falls, the largest waterfall in the world. Many visitors to South Africa enjoy taking a three-day extension to Zambia just to see this magnificent sight. It’s also possible to cross the raging Zambezi River by bridge to neighboring Zimbabwe for other incredible views. Zambia takes its name from the Great Zambezi River, which along with Lake Kariba, forms the border with Zimbabwe. More than 35 different ethnic groups are found in Zambia - each with its own language.
For many years now, Zambia has been the "Cinderella" of Africa, overlooked by tourists, and forgotten by the rest of the world. One reason is that Zambia is rarely in the news. There has never been a major internal war in this peaceful country.

Zambia has much more than a waterfall  to offer visitors. Tour a land made famous by legendary explorer David Livingstone, where a safari into the isolated wilderness of South Luangwa National Park brings you face to face with lions, buffalo, zebra, leopards, hippos, giraffes and one of the largest elephant populations in Africa.
Along the path of your journey through Zambia, meet the Bemba people in the north, the Tonga in the south, the Nyanja in the east, and the Lozi in the west.
In the the capital of Lusaka you can browse the many art galleries and museums. Dine on nshima, a local stew that features a broth of maize with lake salmon and Nile perch. And shop for souvenirs at the open-air Kamwala Market.
The tourism infrastructure in the country has been slow to develop. Travel by road can be long, and it is only recently that Zambia has seen development of hotels with the reputation as being among the finest luxury lodges and safari camps in all of Southern Africa.  But a trip to Zambia is well worth the challenge, particularly if you're interested in pursuing the raw edges of the "real" Africa, and if you're keen on seeing wild animals in a truly wild setting. There is the added advantage that English is the official language and is widely spoken - even in the hinterland.
A visit to Zambia rewards you with a last true African wilderness - where life has changed little for centuries!
